Go Green, Go Healthy this weekend

in Ste. Anne de bellevue and Dorval

The Gazette
Go Green, Go Healthy – that seems on the menu  in the West Island this weekend.
While the Ste. Anne de Bellevue business association holds its Community Wellness Day on Saturday, Dorval’s annual Rendez-Vous summer fair turns over a new leaf this weekend with the Environment Way, a walkway featuring exhibits, demonstrations  and lots of advice on how to go green.
“We have a lot of requests from citizens regarding how to be more environmentally aware ... and we have some environmental associations that wanted to participate in the fair,” said spokesman Simon Sauvé. “So we decided to create the environment walkway.”
The fair, which takes place on the grounds of the Sarto Desnoyer Community Centre, will also feature visual and performing arts, hands-on activities for youngsters  and kiosks with 20 local artists and artisans offering their wares.
In Ste. Anne de Bellevue, the first annual Community Wellness Day is aimed at bringing together local professionals, merchants and resident to learn about improving the well-being of families and communities.
There will be demonstrations throughout the day, including meditation, chi gong, yoga and capoeira. Experts will also be on hand to talk about  naturopathic health and composting.
“Participants who bike to the event will receive a free ice cream from our local gelateria,” said Paola deCicco, adding that there will also be a raffle for a bicycle.
The Ste. Anne’s event will take place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. across the street from city hall, located at 109 Ste. Anne St. For information, call 514-783-1367.
